The Stars of Loving Touch!

Some Of Our Wonderful "Dogs" Waiting For A Loving Home

Lydia - was rescued from a kill shelter. She was a stray when she was picked up by animal control. The shelter workers loved Lydia & were so happy when we agreed to take her into our group. Although Lydia is a very nice dog she does require an experienced owner. Lydia has some food aggression issues that make it impossible for her to be placed in a home with young children. Lydia is 6-years-old. She is a friendly dog but a bit nervous around new people. We don't know what kind of life she had before we met her; we feel she may have been abused to some degree. We are hoping to find a quiet, adult home with someone that Lydia can bond to. She loves belly rubs, sharing food & snuggling up. She just needs to get to know & trust you.

Roxy is a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix. She was given up
by her family due to landlord problems. When Roxy first
arrived she was not a happy camper. She didn't let just
anyone pet her, she picked her favorite humans, bonded
to them & protected them. We then found out that Roxy
was a very sick little girl. She had stopped eating, she
looked weak & her eyes were glassy. She was taken to
the vet for a full blood work-up & examination. She was
put on antibiotic but she did not improve & seemed to be getting worse. The following week she was admitted to a veterinary hospital. We were told that Roxy had
Pneumonia. She remained in the hospital for over a
week.

Today, Roxy is a healthy, happy dog. She enjoys playing with other small dogs. Roxy is partially housebroken. She Is a bit nervous around new people but opens up once she gets to know you. An adult home will be best for Roxy.

Nikko, Serge, Samantha & Kahlua are Italian Greyhounds. Their slender bodies are very delicate. These dogs are very bonded to each other but also enjoy the company of other dogs. We took these dogs in when they were given up by a breeder that became too ill to continue her breeding business. It took a long time to get the dogs to trust & accept human contact. They were used for breeding & were never socialized. (Notice Kahlua's bent spine, she developed that from being kept in a cage because she was too petite to breed. If she was no given up she would have spent her whole life in a small cage.) With lots of TLC these dogs are now ready to be adopted. Due to their fragile bodies we are looking to place them in an apt. to avoid them jumping fences or running around in a yard where they can break a leg.

The General is a senior Chihuahua. We rescued him from a kill shelter. This little old man prefers humans to dogs & cats. Even at his age he is a bit on the bossy side. We are hoping to find him a nice, quiet home with no other pets.

Max was rescued from the city shelter after his owner had surrendered him. Max was blind but after seeing a specialist we were told that he could regain his sight if he underwent a costly operation to remove the cataracts in both eyes. Thanks to our supporters, we had the funds to go through with the operation. It took many trips to the vet for blood tests to be absolutely sure the timing of the operation was right. The surgery was performed in early Oct. Max's aftercare was even more important. He needed to have 4 different drops put in each eye daily. Thanks to the special care & patience given to Max by Zulma & her family, Max is now doing great & can see again. I will never forget getting a call from Zulma when she was picking Max up after his operation, & she told me that Max was "looking at her & studying her face". Then when he returned to her home he ran around & looked into every room. He looked at the other pets, & you could tell that he too was amazed at what he was actually "seeing". It was a very touching moment. Max is now ready for adoption.

Another shelter rescue named Max! This little fellow was also given up by his owner at the age of 5. He was very sick when he arrived. After medical care & lots of TLC Max was better in no time. That's when all the fun began.

Max is a sweetie but he picks & chooses his friends. At times it was difficult to be around Max. He was nervous, he guarded his toys & wouldn't let the other dogs near them. We could only imagine what Max was feeling after he lost him home & family. We wondered if this was why Max was given up or was this just his way of rebelling?

Max needs to be in an adult home with someone who is experienced with the Rat Terrier breed. Once Max trusts you he will be your best friend, it's just a matter of time, kindness & patience.
